CIVOC works with veterans in the community year round through different programs, some of which are through our Food Distribution Centers, some at our outreach programs, and some that are homeless - our Street Reach Program being one example.

ST PIUS X Crafters, a local group headed up by Barbara Cataldo, initially came to CIVOC to donate some much needed winter items for veterans in the local community.

The first question that Barbara asked when delivering the items to us was “What else can we be doing to help your veterans?”

What followed was an amazing effort by this group to meet any needs that were requested by us.

From toiletry items to cold weather gear to Boost Health drinks this group has stepped up and delivered time and time again to our Outreach Program.

In one instance most recently, our Outreach Team was asked by Barbara’s group, “what do women and other homeless veteran’s have to put their personal items in, once they are received?”

We answered by pointing out some plastic grocery tote bags, or, if not those then plastic type garbage bags, whatever we have on-hand and available.

The very next visit Barbara showed up with lovely hand made cloth tote bags that her group had lovingly crafted from some beautiful cotton squares of fabric that had been donated to them.

We have been informed that the entire St PIUS X CRAFTERS GROUP while doing their own personal shopping trips, are always diligently on the lookout for bargains for our own CIVOC Veterans.

CIVOC appreciates the ongoing support and dedication of our community partner, the St. Pius X Crafters group, led by Barbara Cataldo. Their generous contributions, from winter items to toiletries and health drinks, have greatly benefited our veterans through the Outreach Program. The group's willingness to fulfill specific requests and address unmet needs demonstrates their commitment to making a difference in the community. We are grateful for their initiative and the thoughtfulness shown in providing handmade cloth tote bags for homeless veterans. The St. Pius X Crafters' consistent efforts in seeking out essential items for our veterans during their personal shopping trips exemplify their compassion and generosity towards those in need.
